Topical and timely promotions, such as these great examples seem to be very beneficial to brands. By tying promotions in to a holiday or event that is about to happen, brands have the potential to really engage their audience and bring the brand top-of-mind whenever that holiday or even comes up. Halloween is always a good opportunity, but even more effective (in my opinion) is using holidays such as Veterans Day, as Applebee's did. Not only did Applebee's promotions leading up to Veterans Day catch the eye of veterans, but it caught the attention of nearly anyone who saw the commercial. The promotion promises a free meal to any veteran with proof of military service on Veterans Day. Applebee's presented itself as a true part of the "neighborhood" and saw a great opportunity to recognize veterans as well as remind consumers of their name.

I actually prefer blue corn tortilla chips... I wish Taco Bell would keep them this way. :)
Halloween Horror Nights was another huge success this year in both Orlando and Hollywood. Thanks for highlighting it!

Great examples, Cindy! I bet the color of the Black Jack Tacos is because they used blue corn instead of yellow corn - just a guess :-)
