Summer in the City: 360′s Annual Outing

Ah, summer!  Barbeques, beach days, vacations… AND the annual 360PR Summer Outing. A day where we forget about press releases, holiday gift guides and editor events and focus on having fun!

We’ve pretty much conquered the city – and beyond – over the last few years with a scavenger hunt, beach outing, tour of Fenway Park, clam bake and even a night on The Vineyard. So, this year we decided to take to the water on a cruise to the Boston Harbor Islands.

The day began with lunch at Joe’s American Bar & Grill on the Waterfront. Although the iffy New England summer weather left us wondering if our day would end up like a Gilligan’s Island episode, the clouds parted way and, before long, we set sail to our destination, George’s Island. George’s is one of the Boston Harbor Islands – 34 mysteriously close islands which, until the past year, hadn’t gotten a lot of attention, but are now “it” destinations for locals and tourists alike.

Upon arrival, we engaged in a short-lived tug-of-war match (short-lived because we broke the rope), a hilarious potato sack race that left a few on the ground, and a relay race that concluded with dizzy bat – a nauseating “game” of spinning around a wiffle ball bat and then trying to regain your bearings while running back to the starting line (even with Dramamine I was not volunteering for this one!).

Our day wrapped up with a cruise back to the mainland – a scenic ride with a beautiful view of Boston’s skyline, arriving minutes before the skies opened up to some not so beautiful weather. Can’t wait for next year’s outing! In the meantime, we have winter party ideas to start thinking about…for now, it’s still summer, glorious summer!

  1. I love our annual outing! Thanks to our 360 Plays team for all the planning. And for those who haven’t gone, the Boston Harbor Islands are well worth a tour. It was great to see the city from the water.
